Not all wedding things are blissful...

So today, we discovered possibly the most frustrating part of the entire wedding process: ADDRESSES and RETURN ADDRESS LABELS.

We decided that in order to send our save-the-dates in a timely fashion and without me going insane with finals and studying for boards, we would make the process more efficient with the use of labels. I know that it is proper to hand write addresses for the invites, and that will be done, but these were just save the dates and there are a LOT of them so we decided labels were more than acceptable.

Apparently, The Wedding Gods disagreed. Or at least our Kodak ESP 7200 Printer did (which is practically brand new, mind you). Matthew got MOST of the address labels to print just fine (minus the 30-something that he forgot to highlight and import with the rest... but we will get to that later). We were doing good.

Excuse my sidenote, but let me point out that it is basically impossible to get all of your family members to send you their addresses within a week of each other or the time you "think" you'd like to have them by. Keep an updated address book if you EVER want to get married. JUST TRUST ME.

Okay, back to the labels. So we had most of the address labels printed. Actually, we thought we had them ALL printed, until we started crossing off what we had and realized we were missing at least a page... whoops. Then we started printing the return address labels. We went through and ENTIRE package of labels and got ONE usable page. 80 usable return labels out of 400 something in the package. Thank you Kodak ESP 7200. You rock.

So I went to plan B and had Matthew print the return labels on the regular sized address labels. This is when Mr. ESP 7200 really decided to push our buttons and only print a row and a half. SERIOUSLY?! So matthew gave up and it was my turn. Me and the printer fought. He jammed twice. We fought some more. In the end I won that battle and got enough return labels. But the war had just begun.

It was at this point that we actually realized not all of the addresses had printed. So, Matthew tried printing the 35 or so we had left. Mr. ESP 7200 dished out a row and a half. AGAIN. So, I surrendered, and hand wrote the rest. Some battles just aren't worth wasting the ammo, or in this case, the labels!

Moral of the story- our printer hates us. Keep an updated address book. & some wars you will fight together, you will never see coming!

8 Months To Go!

Every month when the 13th comes around, I get a little bit more excited. Which is hard to believe because we are still 8 months away and I am already bursting with excitement. But when the 13th roles around, no matter what kind of day I have, nothing can overshadow the happy feeling I get. Not even studying for pharmacology (which is currently my arch-nemesis.) If i promise not to prescribe drugs for schizophrenia, can I not take this exam tomorrow?!

Matthew is very busy with work. Traveling lots and learning even more. He usually doesn't even know what date it is, but you can rest assured that I always make sure to remind him when it is the 13th! He secretly loves it and gets just as excited as me. If he had his way, we would get married tomorrow (and he would get an awesome tax break a whole year early! Oh, the consequences of dating an accountant. Did I mention our monthly budget has TABS?)

As if today were not already exciting enough, being as we are down to 8 months, our Save-the-Dates arrived. I love them. They turned out PERFECT! I always get nervous with personalizing things and ordering them off of the internet without actually holding a real sample. I had nothing to worry about. The company did an awesome job and I am SO excited to send them out!

Other than that, not too much to update on. Oh, but over break I have my first of many Bridal Showers! I am so blessed to have amazing people in my life to celebrate with and I can't wait to celebrate with Matthew's family in Hoisington on our trip there for Christmas. I will be sure to post some updates and pictures!

Happy finals week. Celebrating only 8 months to go is so much more exciting!

Soon-to-Be Team Warnken Enters the Blogoshpere

248 Days until we officially become Team Warnken!

It seems to be that whenever school gets stressful, I turn to wedding things as stress relief (or procrastination. you say tomato, I say tomato...) Hence, finals are upon us and all of the sudden we have a Florist, our Registry has expanded, and now WE have a blog! Because these things are far more exciting than pathophysiology and pharmacology and any sort of prosthodontics right now, naturally.

So we have entered the blogosphere. We (yes, even Matthew, although he doesn't quite know it yet) will be updating on our lives in the months (248 days but no one is counting, right?) up to the wedding and beyond. My friends have blogs on their families that they update that I just LOVE. Maybe this will evolve into something like that WAYYYY down the road. My favorite thing about a blog is that it evolves into whatever you want it to be!

For the first update, and to get you even more excited for those to come- Matthew and I recently completed our FOCCUS questionnaire for Marriage Prep. We discussed a lot of awesome things afterward, which was great. AND, we got a 100% on the "Ready to Marry" and the "Marriage Covenant" sections! WOOHOO- going to the chapel baby!

Now we just have to make the next 248 days go faster... and plan a wedding in the process.

If you can't already tell, I can't wait to marry my best friend.
